]]> The fishtail braid, also sometimes called a herringbone braid, is a stylish and elegant hairstyle that can be dressed up or down. It might look intricate, but with a little practice, you’ll be braiding like a pro in no time! This tutorial will guide you through the steps of creating a beautiful fishtail braid.

Start with a secure base. Decide where you want your braid to begin. You can braid from the crown of your head for a full style, or start lower for a half-up, half-down look. 

Divide your hair into two sections. Take a small, thin strand of hair from the outer edge of the right section. Cross it over the top of the right section and incorporate it into the left section.

Now, take a small, thin strand of hair from the outer edge of the left section. Cross it over the top of the left section and incorporate it into the right section.

Continue incorporating sections until you reach the end of your hair. Tie the end of the braid with a hair tie.

For a more relaxed look, gently tug on the sides of the braid to loosen it up a bit. You can also adjust any flyaways with bobby pins.
