MTV has announced that it will be bestowing its 2019 Fashion Trailblazer Award on the designer at the upcoming Video Music Awards in New Jersey.
The award is the first of its kind and is a partnership between MTV and the Council of Fashion Designers of America who selected Jacobs because of his “indelible impact within the world of music-artist fashion.”
The 56-year-old designed award-winning collections at fashion school and started his own Marc Jacobs label in 1986. Since then, he has designed creations for the likes of Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj, and Cardi B.
Sebastian Maniscalco will host the 2019 MTV VMAs on August 26th with Jacobs creating a “multimedia activation on the red carpet, highlighting his creative vision.”
