When it comes to gorgeous gowns and dapper suits, the Emmys never disappoints and this year was no different. Celebrities didn’t play it safe on the red carpet, and tons of trends emerged. From bold colors to fun, flirty details, these five trends ruled the 2021 Emmys.

Neon

Bright colors in highlighter hues were all over the red carpet with shades of pink, yellow, and green adding the burst of color we needed. Michaela Coel, Yara Shahidi, Angela Bassett, Uzo Aduba, Kaley Cuoco, and Paulina Alexis were some of the stars who rocked neon hues.

Menswear-Inpsired Looks

Menswear staples like blazers, ties, and trousers were a huge trend on the red carpet with Kathryn Hahn, Samira Wiley, Ellen Pompeo, Amy Poehler, Rita Wilson, and Leslie Grossman serving menswear-inspired looks.

Red

Stars matched their outfits to the red carpet, which shows the classic color never really goes out of style. Sarah Paulson, Mandy Moore, O.T. Fagbenle, Tracee Ellis Ross, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Catherine O’Hara showed their love for the red carpet in their red looks.

Ruffles

Ruffles make any outfit look more interesting and it did exactly that for Nicole Byer, Robin Thede, Billy Porter, Jurnee Smollett, Kaley Cuoco, and Angela Bassett.

Colorful Suits

While we’re used to seeing black tuxes, this year we the men like Bo Burnham, Kenan Thompson, Dan Levy, Seth Rogen, Jason Sudeikis, and Jonathan Groff having fun with bright colors and different fabrics.

The American Music Awards always has some of the best musical performances and style statements from any other award ceremony. This year, celebrities were not afraid to take fashion risks and for many of them it really paid off. We can’t stop thinking about these four looks that stood out from all the rest.

Lizzo

How cute is Lizzo’s little micro-bag? We don’t think she could actually fit anything into it, but we’re here for it. Her ruffled orange dress by Valentino is just as cute. The caption the singer wrote on the photo says it all, “Bag big enough for my f**s to give. Big body bitch in a Valentin-HO custom look.”

Billie Eilish

At first, we didn’t know who was under the mask, but when we looked at the outfit we knew it had to be the “Bad Guy” singer Billie Eilish. Who else could pull off a Burberry suit? The crystal mesh sleeves and mesh bonnet were definitely a look.

Lil Nas X

It’s not often that men take fashion risks and Lil Nas X definitely showed that he belongs on the red carpet. The neon green suit, complete with puff shoulders and a zebra shirt was unlike any looks we saw. We’re excited to see what the singer wears to the next red carpet.

Billy Porter

Porter looked like a piece of artwork with his all-white Thom Browne outfit with a matching headpiece. If you look closely, you can see peeks of red, white, and blue details in the look. Porter tweeted, “I’m wearing hints of red, white and blue because I’m an American. And this is what we look like.”
