]]>Williams’ beauty routine significantly evolved over the years, but she faced many obstacles, both as an athlete and a Black woman. She often struggled to find products for her skin tone while playing tennis around the world and had to learn to do her own makeup because she always had very limited time between matches and press conferences.
She realized that she needed makeup that could truly move with her and perfectly fit into her active lifestyle, and that’s how the idea for Wyn Beauty was born.
“It’s a brand that’s evolved from my lifelong passion for makeup, and the entire collection is authentic to who I am — from the clean formulas to the inspiring shade names to the chartreuse packaging that pays homage to my career in tennis,” she told ABC News.
Wyn Beauty’s first drop is pretty impressive, and it includes 91 face, lip, and eye products, ranging from a hydrating SPF skin tint in 36 shades to concealers, lipsticks, and mascaras. They’re available on the brand’s official website and select Ulta Beauty stores.

Leto followed in Lil Nas X’s footsteps and hit the red carpet in a white Gucci suit that simply wouldn’t be the same if it wasn’t for the eye-catching pink feathered sleeves (scroll to pic no. 2).

]]>In order to make it to the apprenticeship, forty hopefuls must first battle against each other in a design apprenticeship at Nike’s New York Headquarters. Those who make it to the end will voyage to Nike’s Global Headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon for seven months to create a capsule collection with Williams herself and several other Nike designers. Williams says, “I wanted to introduce a special collection and with my role in Nike and what I do just in general, I always want to make sure that we are able to increase diversity and inclusiveness. I thought it was a great way to partner with them.”
Besides creating a beautiful and unique collection with some of fashion’s best newcomers, the goal of the apprenticeship is really to encourage more diversity in the industry. John Hoke, Nike’s Chief Design Officer, says, “Diversity is our advantage. So we will continue to build the most diverse creative network we can possibly find.”

]]>According to the official website of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the upcoming exhibition will explore the origins of the camp aesthetic, and how it has evolved from a place of marginality to become an important influence on mainstream culture.
This exciting theme was framed around Susan Sontag’s seminal essay Notes on Camp from 1964. The exhibition is set to explore all the ways fashion designers engaged with camp in a myriad of compelling, humorous, and sometimes incongruous ways.
Andrew Bolton, the curator in charge of the Costume Institute, revealed they picked this theme because they felt it’s very relevant to the current cultural climate. He believes this theme is very timely because we’re going through an extreme camp moment as a society, but we shouldn’t forget sophistication and power that comes with it.
Camp: Notes on Fashion exhibit will take place from May 9 to September 8, 2019. The grand opening will be marked on May 6 with the annual Met Gala, hosted by Lady Gaga, Harry Styles and Serena Williams.
