If we had to pick the most stylish movie on Netflix right now, Do Revenge would take the cake—and eat it, too! We haven’t seen a more fashion-forward movie than this comedy in a while now, and its costumes do a great job paying homage to the ’90s and 2000s teen classics that we all know and love.

Do Revenge centers on two teens (Camila Mendes and Maya Hawke) who join forces to take down each other’s bullies. It takes inspiration from such films and Cruel Intentions, Clueless, Mean Girls, Heathers, and Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion—both in terms of tone and fashion.

Since the characters spend most of their time in uniforms, costume designer Alana Morshead put a lot of thought into making the right choice. Korean school uniforms were the main source of inspiration, so she added capes and blazers to the mix, and opted for a pastel purple and light green color palette.

“With our kids, even at school, they really care about their appearance, and we had so many pairs of earrings, socks, and shoes because that was how they could accessorize and express themselves. It just added to that fun, heightened reality,” Morshead told InStyle.

She also put a lot of effort into picking outfits for Drea and Eleanor, played by Mendes and Hawke. She wanted their looks to have very specific color differences, with Drea wearing blues, purples, and solids with a ‘90s supermodel vibe, while Eleanor opted for warmer and more vibrant tones that gave her a hippier, Twiggy vibe.
