How to Secure Your Scarf with a Brooch

Scarves can add a touch of style and glam to just about any outfit. Pastel shades could upgrade a summer dress while in winter, heavier scarves can look both fabs and help keep you warm.

It’s important to consider the weight of your brooch and the relative weight of your scarf. Fine silk scarves are delicate creatures and a fine and delicate pin, or brooch would work well.

Anything heavier will sag and could ruin the line you are trying to achieve. There are so many ways to wear a scarf, and equally so many lengths to choose from. The idea is to help secure the scarf and keep it from coming undone and not merely to pin it to your clothes.

In fact, there is a danger that you may damage, inadvertently, your clothing. You may need to grab a friend to help you pin on your brooch if you are having trouble, or secure it before you style it up.

You can lay your scarf out flat first on your bed to check the length, and be positioning, before styling it up. Consider what other accessories you may be wearing and whether you have a jacket too.

You don’t want to hide that beautiful heirloom but make it pop. Sparkle, or shimmer. Have fun with modern brooches or raid your local market for bespoke scarves and pins.
