The Krane Spa Redefines Relaxation

While an industrial park may not be the first place you’d think of to spend a day of relaxation and rejuvenation, The Krane in Copenhagen is looking to change that. As its name suggests, The Krane is a hotel spa located inside a former coal crane. While its facade may not be that aesthetically appealing, we all know that it’s what’s inside that counts. And the interior does not disappoint.

Designed by the founder of Amazing Space (a Danish beauty brand), Laura Bonné, and in conjunction with The Krane (created by property developer Klaus Kastbjerg and architect Mads Møller), the Amazing Krane spa is a gorgeous, one-room hotel with an upstairs bedroom and downstairs spa featuring glass-walled saunas, wraparound windows with ocean views, and gigantic jacuzzi bathtubs that double as massage tables.

Despite its placement in a stark, cold crane in the middle of a barren wasteland of industry, the energy inside the hotel reflects nothing of the sort and, in fact, resonates with an aura of calm and contentedness. In how the spa achieves such a feat, Bonné says, “I was convinced from the outset that we could create the ultimate synergy effect by combining the minimalist Nordic expression from The Krane with the gentle, calming mood from our spa atmosphere.”
