The press tour for Wicked has given us more amazing red carpet moments than we can count, and its stars truly embraced the art of method dressing. From Ariana Grande’s dramatic pink gowns to Cynthia Erivo’s witchy looks, we’re bringing you five red carpet moments that were 100% in character.
Go Green
Cynthia Erivo paid homage to Elphaba by hitting the red carpet in shades of green. She most notably attended the film’s LA premiere in a bright green Louis Vuitton gown with a matching cape.
Back to Black
Erivo didn’t want to overdo it with green while doing promo for Wicked but still stayed true to her character in a series of dramatic black looks by the likes of Schiaparelli, Louis Vuitton, Thom Brown, and Dior.
Think Pink
Ariana Grande spent most of the press tour wearing pink, the signature color of her character Glinda. She joined forces with everyone from Thom Brown and Vivienne Westwood to Versace and Louis Vuitton for a series of pink looks inspired by her dream role.
Oz Homage
Even when she wasn’t wearing pink, Grande still found ways to pay homage to The Wizard of Oz and the original Wicked musical. Her yellow Ralph Lauren dress from London and sparkly pumps from Los Angeles are a case in point.
Witchy Vibes
Erivo and Grande weren’t the only ones going “method” while promoting Wicked. Michelle Yeoh embodied her character Madame Morrible by wearing a blonde wig and a witchy black dress in Los Angeles.
