A “How-To” For Beginner Thrifters

Since saving the planet is high on everyone’s priority list these days, circular fashion and recycled clothing is a big-time trend. However, much of the fashion industry is still wildly overpriced and non-sustainable.

Enter thrift shopping: a great way to be eco-friendly, fashion-forward, and financially responsible. While you can find amazing, unique, cheap pieces at thrift stores, the task can sometimes be overwhelming. That’s why we’ve got some tips to help you navigate through second-hand stores.

Expect Nothing

Thrift stores are a jumble of sizes, styles, and colors so, if you’re searching for one, very specific item (say, a sheep-skin lined denim jacket circa 1980) chances are you’re not going to find it, and you’re going to miss out on a ton of rad, unexpected pieces because you’ve got tunnel vision.

Take Your Time

As previously stated, thrifting is lowkey a mess so you need to exercise patience by slowly combing through the entire store to see what’s lurking below the surface.

If You Love It, Buy It

Thrift stores only have ONE of everything; so, if you see it, love it, gotta have it, then don’t think just buy because if you leave it, you will likely never find it again.
