]]>The show will highlight the transformation of the designers’ ideas and sketches into actual garments and a walk-through to the creative process of these fashion designers.
“We all have to wear clothes so we take it for granted. But it’s an art form to me,” Audrey Hepburn’s granddaughter told NY Post. “The best way to show that is to show what the individual’s process is behind it. Designers have this particular vision and it’s interesting to me the way they execute it.”
Not included in the exhibition is Hubert de Givenchy, who recently passed away at age 91. He was the one who created the iconic black gown of Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
“It feels like a family member passed away, even if I only met him a few times when I was smaller,” Ferrer said.
Guests will see how Blahnik creates intricate sketches and that Posen begins his illustrations when the garment is nearly complete since he likes to drape on the dress form first to understand the structure of the garment. He even created a dress especially for the event to showcase his draping skills.
SAPAR Contemporary explained the purpose of the exhibit, saying “We hear tidbits of the mayhem surrounding Fashion Week, and of the peculiarities that inspire the designers we love, but so little is known about the highly personal and individualized process that designers employ when thinking of and creating their work,” SAPAR said in a press release to InStyle. “In ‘Ideas Get Dressed,’ these rituals are examined and explored.”
Part of the event proceeds will go to the United Nations High commissioner for Refugees, to whom Ferrer is an ambassador.

]]>“It is an honor for me to accept the position of men’s artistic director for Louis Vuitton,” Abloh said in a statement. “I find the heritage and creative integrity of the House are key inspirations and will look to reference them both while drawing parallels to modern times.”
Abloh is currently the creative director of Off-White, a label he founded in 2012 which he earned praise and commercial success for making urban streetwear attractive in the high-end fashion market. He’s also a longtime creative director of Kanye West.
The 38-year-old American designer, who received his Masters of Architecture at Illinois Institute of Technology, won the Urban Luxe prize at the Fashion Awards last year for Off-White and has been nominated for both Menswear and Womenswear Designer of the Year at 2018 CFDA Awards.
“Having followed with great interest Virgil’s ascent since he worked with me at Fendi in 2006, I am thrilled to see how his innate creativity and disruptive approach have made him so relevant, not just in the world of fashion but in popular culture today,” Michael Burke, Louis Vuitton chairman and CEO, said in a statement. “His sensibility towards luxury and savoir-faire will be instrumental in taking Louis Vuitton’s menswear into the future.”
Jones has been the artistic menswear director of Vuitton for six years before showing his final set in January. Abloh’s first Vuitton collection will be unveiled during the Paris Men’s Fashion Week in June.

]]>With their 2016 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund award, the design duo has grown into one of the brands to look forward to in New York Fashion Week.
The fashion house became more accessible today as Net-a-Porter.com has selected five styles from their 2018 Spring show. In January, Net-a-Porter and the two designers collaborated to throw a private dinner in Palm Springs as part of Net-a-Porter’s #NETSET West Coast trip with east coast tastemakers like Laura Love, Cyndi Ramirez, and Charlotte Groeneveld, according to Harper’s Bazaar. The romantic setting was designed with white flowers and floral headbands for all their guests. The couple also provided their personal china collection in their dinner party.

“Britney Spears is an icon. She’s up there with Michael and Madonna. Growing up, she is also synonymous with denim with me. When she and Justin came out in their denim outfits, that is like an iconic look, When we were designing the collection, I was like, ‘If I can have a dream person, who would I want to be in denim? It has to be Britney.’ Britney is the queen of denim to me,” said Humberto Leon, Kenzo co-creative director.

According to the French fashion house, the images, which featured a billboard-sized letter V in the background, embody “a heroine who is daring, confident and always on the move.”
The campaignת which is part of the brand’s Spirit of Travel series, will be out in the May issue of Harper’s Bazaar U.K., set to release on March 30, then on May, June and July issues of leading magazines worldwide.
The actress has been wearing the luxury brand in her several awards season outfits including this year’s Oscars, where she wore a silk Vuitton suit and a black lace dress in the Golden Globes.
Recently, the La La Land star attended the Paris Fashion Week, sitting front row at Louis Vuitton’s Autumn/Winter 2018 show, wearing an LV ensemble.
“I am very happy and proud to be working with a House as passionate as #LouisVuitton, as well as with the unique style and creations of @NicolasGhesquiere,” Stone said in a statement.
In October, Ghesquière previously expressed his excitement at the collaboration on Instagram, writing, “I am truly happy #emmastone is joining #louisvuitton today as a new ambassador.”

Stuart Vevers, Coach creative director, said in a statement, “I always look forward to designing with Selena because she has a strong point of view. We wanted to bring cool new ideas to the table and I loved getting her take on clothes as much as accessories this time around.”
“I am so excited to be working with Coach again,” Selena said. “Getting to create my own collection with Stuart has been such a fun process, and I can’t wait for everyone to see what we have been working on over the past several months.”
This is the 25-year-old pop star’s second collection for the fashion house. The first one was launched in 2017 and included only small accessories and handbags that Selena herself often carried throughout the fall.

“We are cognizant of all the Mickey products and we wanted to do something that was very different; we wanted to make sure that in 20 years, when someone looks at this collection, they’re like, ‘Oh my god, I found this piece from 2018 and this collaboration between Opening Ceremony and Mickey,'” Leon explained. “We want to make sure that what we did today holds its own and is a stamp in Mickey’s history.”
To honor Mickey’s 90th birthday, the fashion brand dedicated its 2018 Spring collection to the most renowned faces of Disney – Mickey, and Minnie. It featured a lineup of Mickey-infused looks from cool hoodies, faux fur coats, wide pants, and accessories. Some of the collection is see-now, buy-now and already available at shopdisney.com or opening ceremony.com. The rest will drop in October.
Guests of the show not only enjoyed the runway but also got to explore the happiest place on Earth. Celebrities in attendance include Sabrina Carpenter, Olivia Holt, Maya Rudolph, Diplo, Jamie Chung, Laverne Cox, and Chance the Rapper.

Despite the busy schedule at backstage areas, he managed to get some incredible photos taken on 35mm film and he shared his favorite moments from 2018 Fall on Instagram.
“There’s a lot of unseen effort behind every photograph,” Tenold said. “[But] the best thing about shooting backstage is the ability to shoot raw and candid moments that people don’t normally get to see. We get to witness the storm that happens backstage, which somehow magically turns into this beautiful show.”
