Do you love wearing red lipstick, but hate having to constantly reapply it? Let’s not even talk about how it ends up in our teeth and we don’t notice it until we’re tagged in an Instagram post. Red lipstick is a staple in our beauty products and there’s a reason it’s been a classic throughout the years.

You’d think by now there would be a full-proof way to make sure it stays on all night. Don’t worry, we’ve come up with the solution to this problem.

The first step to making sure your lipstick stays on is priming the area. Prep your lips with a light balm and if your lips are dry, make sure to buff the dry bits away with a toothbrush or lip scrub. When your lips are clean and the balm is dry, apply a base coat of the lipstick to the center of your lip. Use your finger to distribute the color on your lips. The tip to making the color stay is using a lip pencil that’s the same color as your lipstick to define your lips.

Once you’re done with this step, add another layer of lipstick and blot it with a tissue. If you really want to make sure the color lasts, repeat this step a couple of times. The last step is to dust your lips with a translucent powder with a small brush on the edges of your lips.
