Bags don’t just become the “It Bag” overnight. Remember the Birkin bag which came out in the year 1984? Or even the Chanel 2.55 which came out in the year 1929. As you can see with these bags, it takes time to create something great.

But since the Danse Lente Hexagonal Tote came out less than two years ago, it achieved the “It Bag” status. What’s the proof? Well, on the very first day on Moda Operandi, this bag sold a lot more units than any other brand ever.

The bag has a unique shape and it’s both minimal and playful. Youngwon Kim, the designer of the bag, shared her insight when it comes to designing bags. According to her, bags aren’t attached to the body and so it’s easier to design them. With bags, she can design more freely without worrying about any limitations set by specific body parts. That’s why she finds them so fascinating.

According to Youngwon Kim, the aesthetic of her brand is both simple and different, classic and youthful. She takes her inspiration from Picasso as she loves his work. When asked what’s next for the brand, the Kim said that she’s planning to open a shop during London’s fashion week. Since she loves designing shoes as well, we’re all excited to see what kinds of footwear she’ll come out with too!
