It’s safe to say that retro is in and it’s here to stay. It doesn’t seem to matter which decade your channeling, as long as it’s between 1970 and 2000, you should fall safely in the trendy category. Sometimes it’s difficult to navigate just how vintage you want your outfit to look – do you want to go full force and wear head to toe retro or should you just pair a piece or two with something from your modern collection? Here to give us some inspiration on which items to mix is Katie Holmes.
The actress stepped out in New York City wearing a rather tricky trend: the wide-leg trousers (especially in the print that she chose (mustard yellow and checked)). But, Holmes, of course, knew exactly what to do: offsetting the blousy-ness of the pants with pointy pumps, Holmes kept her legs looking long and lean. She wore a graphic tee up top to keep the look casual, but she still looked majorly chic by layering a long navy trench coat over everything.
