Summer nail trends are usually easy to predict, since colorful, playful and floral-based prints always keep coming back. This summer, however, we were introduced to one edgy trend we definitely didn’t see coming – lipstick-shaped nails.
This new craze is inspired by our favorite makeup essential, and it sees manicurists giving nail tips an asymmetrical shape, as a way of making them reminiscent of a brand-new bullet lipstick that has never been used before.
This look is quite unique and it seems like a perfect fit for people who can’t decide if they’d rather have long or short nails, since it allows you to do both at the same time.
Nail artist Park Eunkyung, behind the popular Instagram page nail_unistella, put this creative shape on the map, and she explained how she came up with it while discussing this emerging trend with Refinery29.
“I was working on a shoot for a YSL sunglasses campaign and I was really drawn to the cat-eye frames, and thought it would be interesting to try and shape my nails like cat-eye sunglasses. It turned out more like a lipstick shape – but I actually loved the detail it gave to my manicure,” said Eunkyung.
