Lupita Nyong’o Shines in Whitney Houston-Inspired Makeup

Fashion and beauty is all about revival: a trend makes a comeback every 20 or 30 years, and makeup from the ‘80s is no exception. Lupita Nyong’o is reminding us of that. At the premiere of the new Hulu movie, Little Monsters, the actress dazzled on the red carpet in a very glam, very Whitney Houston-esque makeup look.

Nyong’o donned a gorgeous animal print shirt-pants ensemble featuring cutouts, colors, and various prints. To complement the outfit, the actress sported some very cool dangling, star-shaped earrings, and wore her beautifully braided hair up in a sculpted bun, showing off her stunning face and makeup. Artist Nick Barose used pictures of the legendary pop diva to create a look that channeled the disco era and highlighted the star’s natural beauty: burgundy and metallic hued eyeshadow decorated her lids in a way that was reminiscent of a sunset, while her lips were painted a deep red-orange shade that popped against Nyong’o’s luminous skin.

“With the fun, colorful, and sparkly details on the eyes and lips, it’s perfect for the upcoming holiday season,” Barose said. And she’s right! Guess this will be our go-to look for the next few months!
