Mermaidcore was all the rage last summer, and it’s making its glorious return just in time for the new season. We’ve seen several celebrities take us under the sea with their red carpet looks in recent weeks, and these five are definitely putting mermaidcore back on the map.

Taraji P. Henson

Taraji P. Henson turned heads at this year’s Tony Awards in a dazzling Oscar de la Renta, decorated with countless shimmering scalloped embellishments.

Rachel Zegler

Rachel Zegler was one of the stars bringing the mermaidcore craze to this year’s Met Gala. She looked more dazzling than ever in a baby blue Michael Kors gown, which she paired with a matching cape.

Gabrielle Union

Gabrielle Union also joined forces with Michael Kors at the Met Gala and delivered another mermaid-inspired look in her white and green dress with an ombre effect.

Oriana Sabatini

Mermaidcore dresses made their way to the Cannes Film Festival thanks to Oriana Sabatini, the Argentine model and actress who hit the red carpet in a shimmering Sophie Couture gown.

Blake Lively

Blake Lively also couldn’t resist the magical draw of the mermaid-inspired dresses and gave this trend her seal of approval at a Tiffany & Co. event, where she wore a teal-colored dress with a fish-scale pattern.
