This amazing news comes after a list of growing fashion designers, including Donatella Versace, has finally decided to stop using real animal fur on clothes.

Recently, we hear that Michael Kors, Gucci, Versace and many more luxury brands decided to stop using real fur on all of their products. While this was happening, San Francisco became the first major city in the U.S that officially banned all fur sales.

Last night, the Board of Supervisors of S.F, ruled that they would ban any new fur selling products within the city. This action will go into effect on January 1, 2019, but will not apply to any secondhand items, lambskin or sheepskin. Yet, retailers, furriers or other selling products that contain real fur will have until 2020 to sell their last products.

This is what supervisor Katy Tang said in the statement since she was the one who pushed for the legislation:

“The sale of fur products in San Francisco is inconsistent with the City’s ethos of treating all living beings, humans and animals alike, with kindness…there’s no humane way to raise an animal to peel its skin off.”
