This new range of products was designed by Peter Philips, Dior’s creative and image director for makeup. His main goal was to create a makeup collection that can lead to a professional result with the help of intuitive formulas and easy-to-use tools.

“The products are so easy to apply and so easy to wear that it’s almost like having a makeup artist helping you in your bathroom. Makeup should be fun. Everybody can create their own runway,” said Philips while chatting with LA Times.

The promotional campaign for Dior Backstage was fronted by Bella Hadid before the entire collection hit the shelves on June 1st. It features a wide range of product reminiscent of those used by Dior’s makeup artists, including professional brushes, primers and eye, and lip palettes.

Dior’s creative director, Maria Grazia Chiuri, used this capsule collection to honor its legacy. “I thought about creating a new line that would reflect the identity of the house and, at the same time, offer women the opportunity to create a ‘My Dior’ allure in harmony with their lifestyle,” Chiuri said in a statement.

Creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri drew inspiration from Mexican horsewomen known as Escaramuzas. She hoped this collection will evoke their gracious and powerful discipline, and picked Lawrence as the embodiment of liberated femininity they represent.

The young actress can be seen posing in a desert setting alongside a black horse looming in the background, in several striking equestrian-style outfits. Some of the items featured in the photo shoot are petticoats, large leather body belts, floral dresses, tulle skirts, and Dior’s classic saddle and tote bags.

This is not Lawrence’s first ride on the rodeo since she’s been working with the French fashion house since 2012. She partnered up with Dior on multiple fashion and beauty campaigns and even became the face of their first fragrance in almost 20 years.
