After a lot of anticipation, the Met Gala finally returned to New York on Monday and it delivered another stellar red carpet. The theme of the evening was “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty”, and our favorite stars did a great job sticking to the dress code and paying homage to the late designers.
It was pretty much impossible to spot Lagerfeld in anything but black and white, and many stars in attendance honored him by wearing this color combo. Jessica Chastain and Cardi B even went so far as to rock platinum blonde hair in honor of the fashion legend.
Lagerfeld famously closed out every catwalk with famous “Chanel bride” dresses, and many stars at Met Gala honored this tradition by wearing white. Rihanna and Ava Max were some of the stars who looked positively bridal, and Dua Lipa even wore a custom 1992 Chanel dress.
Lagerfeld also used pearls in the most unexpected ways during his time as Chanel’s creative director, as a way of honoring the house’s founder Coco Chanel. Many stars at the Met Gala opted to wear pearly dresses, but Kim Kardashian ended up stealing the show.
