The Victoria Secret fashion show is one of the highlights of the fashion year.

The first show was held at the Plaza Hotel in New York City in August 1995 and featured Beverly Peele and Frederique van der Wal walking the runway.

Since then, the catwalk show has been an annual affair that is broadcast on network television and features between 20 and 40 of the world’s top supermodels.

2019 will be different, however.

It was first announced that the show would not be broadcast, breaking a two-decade tradition. And now it appears as though the show won’t go on at all.

“Unfortunately the Victoria’s Secret show won’t be happening this year,” model Shanina Shaik told Australia’s Daily Telegraph. “It’s something I’m not used to because every year around this time I’m training like an angel. But I’m sure in the future something will happen, which I’m pretty sure about. I’m sure they’re trying to work on branding and new ways to do the show because it’s the best show in the world.”

Let’s hope we haven’t seen the last of the angels.
