Many important entertainment events are being canceled or postponed due to health concerns, including the most important A-list gathering in the fashion world. The Met Gala is being postponed indefinitely due to the spread of the coronavirus.

The annual benefit for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute was supposed to take place on May 4th, with the official theme by the name “About Time: Fashion and Duration.” Co-chair Anna Wintour announced they felt it would be best to postpone it in light of the current events.

“Due to the unavoidable and responsible decision by the Metropolitan Museum to close its doors, About Time, and the opening night gala, will be postponed to a later date,” Wintour wrote in Vogue.

The list of co-hosts for this year’s benefit included Emma Stone, Meryl Streep, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Louis Vuitton’s creative director Nicolas Ghesquière. The new date is yet to be announced, but judging by Wintour’s statement, the theme will stay the same.
