Emily in Paris features an amazing cast and stunning locations, but its best supporting character happens to be all the amazing costumes that Lilly Collins wore throughout the series. The iconic designer has an Oscar nomination under her belt for The Devil Wears Prada, but she’s best known for her work on Sex and the City. One could argue that Emily Cooper, just like Carrie Bradshaw, can’t afford many of her lavish outfits, but Field doesn’t concern herself with realism when it comes to fashion design.
“My goal is to make them look as good as I can, and just to be happy… I design out of optimism, and that’s why I like romantic comedies. To me, my job is to create the most interesting, original, and beautiful wardrobe for my actors,” explained Field.
Emily’s outfits pay homage to both Sarah Jessica Parker and Audrey Hepburn, since Collins bears a striking resemblance to the iconic actress. Emily walks a fine line between her American roots and French chic and her wardrobe is full of surprises. It’s a true adventure to watch her style evolve throughout the season, and each of her outfits is an amazing journey worth taking.
