Max Mara’s latest resort collection is here and it draws inspiration from two legends – Hollywood icon Marlene Dietrich and glam rock sensation David Bowie.

Ian Griffiths, the creative director of the Italian house, played with feminine and masculine elements while creating this collection and fused the styles of two iconic stars who inspired it.

“Strangely, when you put images of them together side by side, they were almost the same person. They both loved a sharply tailored white suit, a trench coat, a white shirt, a waistcoat and a man’s tie,” explained Griffiths.

In the end of the day, he managed to create a groundbreaking resort collection, which defies gender norms and stays true to Max Mara’s core values. Brand’s latest range is geared towards professional women, and it’s filled with monochromatic ensembles and sandy colored trench coats.

Dietrich and Bowie weren’t the only important inspiration behind this collection. Max Mara’s latest runaway show marks the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, and it paid homage to the rebirth of this incredible city where it took place.
