]]> Virgil Abloh, the founder of the fashion house Off-White and the artistic director of Louis Vuitton’s menswear line, has passed away at the age of 41. His sudden death caught the world by surprise, and many fashion figures and celebrities took a moment to bid farewell to the visionary designer.

Abloh passed away after a private battle with a rare form of cancer. Bernard Arnault, the CEO of Louis Vuitton’s parent company LVMH, described him as “a genius designer” and “a visionary” in an official statement following his tragic death.

“He was also a man with a beautiful soul and great wisdom. The LVMH family joins me in this moment of great sorrow, and we are all thinking of his loved ones after the passing of their husband, their father, their brother, or their friend,” said Arnault.

Many of Abloh past collaborators sent condolences to his family and celebrated the designer’s legacy, including Pharrell Williams, Drake, LeBron James, Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid, and more. Kanye West, who hired him as his creative director at the very beginning of his career, posted a flash page to his official website, reading “In Loving Memory Of Virgil Abloh, The Creative Director Of Donda.”

Virgil Abloh found mainstream success after starting his high-end streetwear brand Off-White in 2012. He made history as the first black designer to be appointed as the artistic director of Louis Vuitton’s menswear line in 2018 and assumed this role until his death.

Louis Vuitton’s creative director Nicolas Ghesquière praised her as “an exceptional young woman who represents her generation and is a role model for everyone” and expressed excitement for joining forces with her, starting with the upcoming Spring-Summer 2021 collection.

“Her career and convictions are inspiring and I am in awe of Naomi. She stays true to herself and doesn’t compromise on her values. I am looking forward to sharing new projects with Naomi in the year to come!”, Ghesquière said in a statement.

Osaka echoed his statement and said it’s an honor to work with Ghesquière because he shares her love of Japanese culture and style. Being Louis Vuitton’s new brand ambassador is also quite personal for the tennis champion because she bought her very first Louis Vuitton bag as a present for her mom when she was 16 and she’s been doing it ever since.

]]> We’re used to seeing Louis Vuitton constantly break new grounds with their designs, but they still managed to impress us with their latest campaign. The lookbook for the brand’s pre-fall 2020 collection is inspired by retro posters and book covers with a futuristic feel.

This campaign is a brainchild of Louis Vuitton’s creative director Nicolas Ghesquière, who came up with the idea to use works of fiction and incorporate them into different outfits.

“Fashion is a novel and the pre-fall 2020 collection embarks on a narrative journey where the garments tell their own tales. In such a ‘wearable library,’ each outfit writes its own chapter made up of romantic monologues,” states Louis Vuitton’s lookbook notes.

Ghesquière wasn’t alone on this journey since some of our favorite Hollywood superstars agreed to participate. Léa Seydoux, Chloë Grace Moretz, Sophie Turner, Jaden Smith, and Emma Roberts are only some of the celebrities who were a part of this campaign, and reimagined retro posters and book covers for this sci-fi and horror-inspired the 24-page lookbook.

]]> Oversized bags are so 5 years ago, but even the beloved satchel is being kicked out of fashion. Now, the latest trend is mini bags, so small you almost can’t fit anything in them! But fashion doesn’t necessarily equate functionality -in fact, it rarely does. So if you have the money to spend on things that are completely impractical, then you’re going to be very trendy this year. 

According to TheRealReal (online second-hand goods retailer), in the first half of 2019, searches for “mini bags” increased 544% over previous years. That’s huge! Some of the most desired shrunken items include Gucci’s mini suede Dionysus purse, Jacquemus’ Le Chiquito bag, Chloé’s C bag, Prada’s Sidonie shoulder bag, and Louis Vuitton’s Palm Springs and Lockme mini backpacks.

Why the trend toward smaller and smaller bags? Either the universe is playing a prank on those of us who like to be both stylish and practical or, it’s just another case of “cuter is better.” Whatever the cause, we’re not necessarily for or against it, as long as the bag is still big enough for the essentials: phone, wallet, keys, chapstick. Boom.

The brand recently joined forces with a grand total of 17 Hollywood’s most in-demand stars, who agreed to promote their latest collection.

These celebs happen to be long-time supporters and ambassadors of Louis Vuitton. Creative director Nicolas Ghesquière felt they would do an amazing job promoting brand’s latest collection, because they perfectly channel the spirit of this brand.

“These women embrace the various personalities that embody fashion at Louis Vuitton. Be they stars or new faces, all of them share the same willpower, and confidence in their choices, and at the same time, reflect the eclecticism of the female identity,” explained Ghesquière.

The whole collection will see the light of day during Paris Fashion Week, but won’t hit the store before May. It will be a perfect fit for glamorous women leading busy lives, who enjoy standing out from the crowd and making a statement with their fashion choices.

]]> Our favorite Hollywood stars gave us a breath of fresh air at this year’s Golden Globes, but they went to their old ways at Critics’ Choice Awards. Red carpet at this awards ceremony was all about white and nude tones and understated elegance ruled the night.

Dozens of stars looked positively bridal while walking down the red carpet. Some of them made the list, but Mandy Moore, Jodie Comer and Laura Harrier are also among the stars who opted for white. This was also the hottest color at last year’s Emmy Awards, and that’s why we hoped to see something more refreshing this time around.

Despite domination of light-colored dresses, some of the attendees dared to be different and impressed us with their bold choices. We can’t wait to see what else they’ve got in store as awards season progresses.

]]> Louis Vuitton released a new campaign ad on Thursday, where Emma Stone models its signature leather Capucines bags and its pre-fall collection designed by creative director, Nicolas Ghesquière. The photoshoot was done by Craig McDean in the middle of California desert.

According to the French fashion house, the images, which featured a billboard-sized letter V in the background, embody “a heroine who is daring, confident and always on the move.”

The campaignת which is part of the brand’s Spirit of Travel series, will be out in the May issue of Harper’s Bazaar U.K., set to release on March 30, then on May, June and July issues of leading magazines worldwide.

The actress has been wearing the luxury brand in her several awards season outfits including this year’s Oscars, where she wore a silk Vuitton suit and a black lace dress in the Golden Globes.

Recently, the La La Land star attended the Paris Fashion Week, sitting front row at Louis Vuitton’s Autumn/Winter 2018 show, wearing an LV ensemble.

“I am very happy and proud to be working with a House as passionate as #LouisVuitton, as well as with the unique style and creations of @NicolasGhesquiere,” Stone said in a statement.

In October, Ghesquière  previously expressed his excitement at the collaboration on Instagram, writing, “I am truly happy #emmastone is joining #louisvuitton today as a new ambassador.”

]]> Oversized bags are so 5 years ago, but even the beloved satchel is being kicked out of fashion. Now, the latest trend is mini bags, so small you almost can’t fit anything in them! But fashion doesn’t necessarily equate functionality -in fact, it rarely does. So if you have the money to spend on things that are completely impractical, then you’re going to be very trendy this year. 

According to TheRealReal (online second-hand goods retailer), in the first half of 2019, searches for “mini bags” increased 544% over previous years. That’s huge! Some of the most desired shrunken items include Gucci’s mini suede Dionysus purse, Jacquemus’ Le Chiquito bag, Chloé’s C bag, Prada’s Sidonie shoulder bag, and Louis Vuitton’s Palm Springs and Lockme mini backpacks.

Why the trend toward smaller and smaller bags? Either the universe is playing a prank on those of us who like to be both stylish and practical or, it’s just another case of “cuter is better.” Whatever the cause, we’re not necessarily for or against it, as long as the bag is still big enough for the essentials: phone, wallet, keys, chapstick. Boom.

]]> The Screen Actors Guild is the latest organization to unveil its award winners for this year. Hollywood superstars picked some pretty impressive dresses for this ceremony and showed us what to expect come Oscar time.

]]> Louis Vuitton never had any trouble convincing Hollywood’s biggest names to star in their campaigns, but they took things to a whole new level this time around.

The brand recently joined forces with a grand total of 17 Hollywood’s most in-demand stars, who agreed to promote their latest collection.

These celebs happen to be long-time supporters and ambassadors of Louis Vuitton. Creative director Nicolas Ghesquière felt they would do an amazing job promoting brand’s latest collection, because they perfectly channel the spirit of this brand.

“These women embrace the various personalities that embody fashion at Louis Vuitton. Be they stars or new faces, all of them share the same willpower, and confidence in their choices, and at the same time, reflect the eclecticism of the female identity,” explained Ghesquière.

The whole collection will see the light of day during Paris Fashion Week, but won’t hit the store before May. It will be a perfect fit for glamorous women leading busy lives, who enjoy standing out from the crowd and making a statement with their fashion choices.

]]> Our favorite Hollywood stars gave us a breath of fresh air at this year’s Golden Globes, but they went to their old ways at Critics’ Choice Awards. Red carpet at this awards ceremony was all about white and nude tones and understated elegance ruled the night.

Dozens of stars looked positively bridal while walking down the red carpet. Some of them made the list, but Mandy Moore, Jodie Comer and Laura Harrier are also among the stars who opted for white. This was also the hottest color at last year’s Emmy Awards, and that’s why we hoped to see something more refreshing this time around.

Despite domination of light-colored dresses, some of the attendees dared to be different and impressed us with their bold choices. We can’t wait to see what else they’ve got in store as awards season progresses.

]]> Louis Vuitton released a new campaign ad on Thursday, where Emma Stone models its signature leather Capucines bags and its pre-fall collection designed by creative director, Nicolas Ghesquière. The photoshoot was done by Craig McDean in the middle of California desert.

According to the French fashion house, the images, which featured a billboard-sized letter V in the background, embody “a heroine who is daring, confident and always on the move.”

The campaignת which is part of the brand’s Spirit of Travel series, will be out in the May issue of Harper’s Bazaar U.K., set to release on March 30, then on May, June and July issues of leading magazines worldwide.

The actress has been wearing the luxury brand in her several awards season outfits including this year’s Oscars, where she wore a silk Vuitton suit and a black lace dress in the Golden Globes.

Recently, the La La Land star attended the Paris Fashion Week, sitting front row at Louis Vuitton’s Autumn/Winter 2018 show, wearing an LV ensemble.

“I am very happy and proud to be working with a House as passionate as #LouisVuitton, as well as with the unique style and creations of @NicolasGhesquiere,” Stone said in a statement.

In October, Ghesquière  previously expressed his excitement at the collaboration on Instagram, writing, “I am truly happy #emmastone is joining #louisvuitton today as a new ambassador.”
