]]> Serena Williams spent years pushing boundaries as a tennis player, and she’s gearing up to enter a brand-new arena. The Olympic champion launched her long-awaited cosmetic brand Wyn Beauty, a high-performance makeup line created with an active lifestyle in mind.

Williams’ beauty routine significantly evolved over the years, but she faced many obstacles, both as an athlete and a Black woman. She often struggled to find products for her skin tone while playing tennis around the world and had to learn to do her own makeup because she always had very limited time between matches and press conferences.

She realized that she needed makeup that could truly move with her and perfectly fit into her active lifestyle, and that’s how the idea for Wyn Beauty was born.

“It’s a brand that’s evolved from my lifelong passion for makeup, and the entire collection is authentic to who I am — from the clean formulas to the inspiring shade names to the chartreuse packaging that pays homage to my career in tennis,” she told ABC News.

Wyn Beauty’s first drop is pretty impressive, and it includes 91 face, lip, and eye products, ranging from a hydrating SPF skin tint in 36 shades to concealers, lipsticks, and mascaras. They’re available on the brand’s official website and select Ulta Beauty stores.

Start with a secure base. Decide where you want your braid to begin. You can braid from the crown of your head for a full style, or start lower for a half-up, half-down look. 

Divide your hair into two sections. Take a small, thin strand of hair from the outer edge of the right section. Cross it over the top of the right section and incorporate it into the left section.

Now, take a small, thin strand of hair from the outer edge of the left section. Cross it over the top of the left section and incorporate it into the right section.

Continue incorporating sections until you reach the end of your hair. Tie the end of the braid with a hair tie.

For a more relaxed look, gently tug on the sides of the braid to loosen it up a bit. You can also adjust any flyaways with bobby pins.

Most makeup products come with an expiry date or a Period After Opening (PAO) symbol. It will look like a small jar with a number followed by the letter “M”. This indicates the number of months the product is safe to use after opening. For example, “12M” means the product should be used within 12 months after opening. 

More Clues

Changes in Texture

Creamy products like lipsticks and foundations may dry out or become more difficult to apply smoothly. Powders might become hard and not pick up well on a brush.

Separation

Liquids separating into layers or oils rising to the top of a product are clear signs that the makeup has gone bad. This is common in foundation and liquid eyeliners.

Poor Application

When makeup doesn’t apply as it once did—for instance, if mascara clumps on the lashes more than usual—it may be time to replace it.

According to SKKN’s official website, this brand was born out of Kardashian’s lifelong passion for beauty and inspired by the insider secrets she’s gathered over the years. Its main mission is to “redefine beauty standards, champion inclusivity, and inspire confidence.”

SKKN isn’t Kardashian’s first beauty brand—she used to run KKW Beauty and KKW Fragrance, before deciding to shut them down and innovate their formulas and packaging. She eventually merged all her cosmetics brands under the SKKN moniker, making it more accessible to consumers.

Kardashian’s first makeup drop with SKKN includes 14 velvety-smooth lipliners, in neutral shades ranging from light beige nude to deep chocolate nude, at $22 apiece. She also introduced 10 soft matte lipstick shades at $32 and the Classic Mattes Eyeshadow Palette with 12 colors at $50.

All products are available for purchase on SKKN’s official website, along with a wide range of skincare products that were part of the brand’s initial launch.

While it’s true that makeup won’t start smelling like the cheese in the fridge when it’s gone bad, it does have an expiration date. To make sure you’re not damaging your skin, here are a few tips to keep in mind. 

Understanding Expiry Dates

Most makeup products come with an expiry date or a Period After Opening (PAO) symbol. It will look like a small jar with a number followed by the letter “M”. This indicates the number of months the product is safe to use after opening. For example, “12M” means the product should be used within 12 months after opening. 

More Clues

Changes in Texture

Creamy products like lipsticks and foundations may dry out or become more difficult to apply smoothly. Powders might become hard and not pick up well on a brush.

Separation

Liquids separating into layers or oils rising to the top of a product are clear signs that the makeup has gone bad. This is common in foundation and liquid eyeliners.

Poor Application

When makeup doesn’t apply as it once did—for instance, if mascara clumps on the lashes more than usual—it may be time to replace it.

The Right Exfoliant 

There are two common options when it comes to exfoliants. Physical exfoliants use tiny grains or beads to scrub away dead skin cells. Opt for gentle options like jojoba beads or rice powder, and avoid harsh scrubs that can irritate. 

Chemical exfoliants, on the other hand, use acids like glycolic or lactic acid to dissolve dead skin. If you choose this route, start with low percentages if you have sensitive skin, and always do a patch test first.

Less is More

Exfoliation removes dead skin cells, but overdoing it can strip away natural oils, leading to irritation and dryness. Aim for one to two times per week for most skin types, adjusting based on your individual needs. Listen to your skin—if it feels tight or sensitive, give it a break.

Don’t Forget the Aftercare

Exfoliation creates a fresh canvas. Immediately after, apply a hydrating moisturizer to replenish lost moisture. And don’t forget sunscreen! Freshly exfoliated skin is more sensitive to the sun.

According to SKKN’s official website, this brand was born out of Kardashian’s lifelong passion for beauty and inspired by the insider secrets she’s gathered over the years. Its main mission is to “redefine beauty standards, champion inclusivity, and inspire confidence.”

SKKN isn’t Kardashian’s first beauty brand—she used to run KKW Beauty and KKW Fragrance, before deciding to shut them down and innovate their formulas and packaging. She eventually merged all her cosmetics brands under the SKKN moniker, making it more accessible to consumers.

Kardashian’s first makeup drop with SKKN includes 14 velvety-smooth lipliners, in neutral shades ranging from light beige nude to deep chocolate nude, at $22 apiece. She also introduced 10 soft matte lipstick shades at $32 and the Classic Mattes Eyeshadow Palette with 12 colors at $50.

All products are available for purchase on SKKN’s official website, along with a wide range of skincare products that were part of the brand’s initial launch.
